Chivyrkuy Starfall: A Night Over the Warm Bay

A weekend tour where the main event happens at night. Chivyrkuy Bay is one of the few places on Baikal with no towns and no street lights, and the sky is so dark you can see even faint stars. In August it hosts the peak of the Perseid meteor shower — up to 100 shooting stars an hour.

We spread blankets right on the warm sand, pour tea from thermoses and look up. No telescopes, no lectures — just you, the stars and the silence of Baikal. By day there is an optional dip in the hot springs of Zmeevaya Bay (+45 °C) and a short boat trip to the Ushkany Islands (with luck, we’ll see seals); in the evening — a campfire and stars again. No rush, no overload.
